About our Opportunity:
Core Responsibilities:

- Accountable for managing the shift operations and maintenance teams during core hours, during night shifts & weekends (Under construction)
- Be responsible for the safe operation of glass manufacturing equipment/furnace and the safety and wellbeing of all staff.
- Promote and lead the way in an exemplary safety culture within the St. Helens site.
- Be an advocate for the Glass Futures approach to culture, embodying our Values, Vision, and Mission.
- Working knowledge and practise of continuous improvement activities i.e., 5S, VSM, SMED, Kaizen, Process Flow & all other Lean inspired activities.
- Support our Site Operations Manager to ensure adherence, monitoring and audit processes.
- Be competent in completing and working to risk assessments and completing method statements/safe systems of work/SOPs.
- Assume responsibility for managing contractors and deliveries out of core working hours.
- Knowledge of WAH & hot works permits.
- Ensure all staff are familiar with and performing their duties in line with internal policies and procedures.
- Ensure continuous improvement activities are encouraged and deployed throughout the operations team.
- Be proficient at investigating production related issues, identifying root cause and responding to the situations appropriately and safely.
- Be an adaptable individual who enjoys variety, change and flexibility and who can react to fluid situations.
- Be comfortable and confident leading and participating in meetings and gatherings.

Person Specification:

- Minimum of 5 years working in a process plant/manufacturing environment.
- Must demonstrate excellent quality leadership skills or have held a leadership position
- Be an effective communicator, able to adapt your communication style.
- We need excellent collaborators who respect others, is considerate of other viewpoints and perspectives and is comfortable challenging and being challenged in a constructive way.
- Self-Managing and initiative-taking, able to manage multiple requests and prioritise.
- Effective problem solving, creative thinking and analytical skills.
- Someone who is adaptable to frequently changing circumstances, can work flexibly and able to influence and motivate team members in these areas.

Desirable Skills/Qualifications:

- Time served apprenticeship (Mech or Elec biased) - Highly desirable
- Knowledge of furnace and batch plant processes (highly desirable).
- Previous leadership experience within the glass industry (highly desirable).
- IOSH Working Safely certification.
- Basic knowledge/awareness of Mechanical and Electrical systems.
- Knowledge of LOTO & permits to work.
- In-depth understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance.
- Basic first aid qualifications (desirable).
- Fire Marshall (desirable).
- Comfortable with shift working and the associated unsociable elements.
- Willing and able to travel to support the team and for development opportunities.
