**Job summary**:
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated registrar level trainee in Public Health or Infectious Diseases or Medical Microbiology to join the HCAI, Fungal, AMR, AMU & Sepsis Division for a duration of either 6, 9 or 12 months.

This clinical fellow training placement is an outstanding opportunity for the individual to gain experience and expertise at a national level in areas including: investigation and management of major incidents and outbreaks; infectious disease surveillance; antimicrobial resistance and stewardship; infection prevention and control; guidance and policy development and implementation; research; service development and improvement including close collaborative work with the Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare Associated Infections Reference Unit (AMRHAI).

**Job description**:
Gain understanding and experience of:

- Investigation and mitigation of major incidents and outbreaks
- Infectious disease surveillance
- Research (national level infection projects)
- Guidance and policy development (national infection guidance and policy)
- Service and quality improvement in relation to infectious disease surveillance, prevention and control
- Antimicrobial resistance and stewardship
- Laboratory quality improvement and development projects in conjunction with AMRHAI

Develop skills in:

- Outbreak and incident investigation
- Leadership (including for national level projects and in respect to outbreak and incident response)
- Stakeholder engagement and partnership including across UKHSA, NHSEI, MHRA, government departments and societies
- Guidance and policy development and implementation
- Decision making and time management
- Quality improvement projects and audit

**Person specification**:
**Qualifications**

Essential criteria
- Specialist trainee in infectious diseases, microbiology or public health (undertaking HEE specialty training programme)

Desirable criteria
- Additional qualification in relevant field, or relevant equivalent experience, including PhD or Masters
- FRCPath or MRCP

**Knowledge and Experience**

Essential criteria
- Strong experience of the UK national health system

Desirable criteria
- Experience of collaborating within other agencies
- Experience of presenting complex ideas to stakeholders

**Skills / Capabilities / Behaviours**

Essential criteria
- Experience in preparation of written reports / audit / quality improvement projects
- Ability to prioritise work in a timely manner and work autonomously
- Work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to convey ideas and opinions clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
