Support Worker required for our disability community centre. Current shifts available; Wednesday 2pm-9pm and Thursday 3:30pm
- 6:30pm. (additional hours/overtime TBA)

**Job Purpose**

The Support Worker will provide a comprehensive care support service to disabled young people and adults. The role will involve supporting disabled people with individual needs in a social group setting. The aim of the project is to provide disabled people with an opportunity to develop their skills, confidence and independence through meaningful and fun activities

As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in helping those you support

lead more fulfilling and happy lives. Our services prioritize supporting

individuals in the comfort of our social clubs we run in the center with a strong

emphasis on promoting independence. By providing practical care and

assistance, you will enable our members to live their lives as independently

as possible.

Support and Empower our Lovely Members, many of whom are affected by Disabilities and Mental Health.

Your role will involve providing social support at our social club and wellness

classes, including snack preparation and assisting members out during their

wellness and development class which creates opportunity to participate in

organised outings, leading them to feel a sense of belonging.

As our Support Worker position is located in Possil, there are many public

transport routes, but we do also offer free onsite parking. In return for your

Job

**Key Responsibilities**

1. To plan and organise activities.

2. To liaise with family members/carers and or external agencies as required.

3. To cooperate with staff and other team leaders to assist in the person centered planning process.

4. To ensure incident reports are completed appropriately and in a timely manner

5. To ensure the accident book is completed when necessary

6. To ensure risk assessments are completed appropriately.

7. To ensure that yourself, other staff and volunteers adhere to organisational policies and procedures as well as relevant regulatory and legislative requirements.

8. To support and encourage members to participate in services that will promote integration and develop confidence and self-esteem.

9. To maintain an understanding of relevant issues and developments within the sector

10. To contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the services/activities

11. Any other duties appropriate and reasonable to the post and in line with the needs of the project.

**Essential**:

- Understanding of key issues affecting people with a disability/impairment, and their families
- A desire to ensure that people with a disability/impairment are supported to lead fulfilled lives.
- Have a flexible, energetic and positive attitude to work
- Excellent communication skills and a dynamic nature

Solution focused
- Ability to work as a team as well as on own initiative
- To report any justified concerns to line manager
- A relevant vocational qualification such as an SVQ 2 or 3 in Social Care or other related field and/**or equivalent experience** in social care.

**Desirable**:

- A Personal experience of disability
- Experience in working within the voluntary sector
- An Understanding of the Social Model of Disability
- Clean driving licence
- Ability to speak publicly
- Fundraising experience

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: £11.44 per hour

Expected hours: 3 - 16 per week
