We are looking for a full-time Child and Adolescent Mental Health Practitioner to join our Healthcare team in Lincolnshire Secure Unit to provide mental health and psychological well-being support and intervention to vulnerable children and young people (CYP) resident in the home.

The CYP are between the ages of 10 and 18 and have often experienced many adverse childhood events and trauma. Their everyday care is met by social care staff and the healthcare team enhances this care by providing multi-disciplinary support for healthcare needs, including, physical health, mental health, and psychological/emotional well-being.

You will be responsible for monitoring the mental health and psychological well-being of the CYP, and will deliver health screening of CYP on admission, ensuring all physical and mental health needs inform care planning.

You will deliver training/workshops to staff and CYP on issues affecting mental health and psychological well-being and work closely with the psychologist to deliver trauma informed care to CYP in partnership with the unit’s school and care staff.

The core hours are 9.00am to 17.00pm Monday-Friday with some later working to support after school availability up to 9pm. The team operate an on-call system for initial health screening of admissions up to 21.00pm weekdays and midday weekends and bank holidays. We are committed to professional development and provide many training opportunities for staff.
- To provide early intervention through consultation, needs and risk assessment for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health, emotional and behavioural problems, in a secure environment, using the Care Programme Approach as required.
- Act as Care Coordinator under the CPA, as required.
- To deliver care planning and individual and group interventions, in partnership with young people and other workers involved in care delivery.

- To work flexibly between 9am and 9pm, including some on-call duties for admissions bank holidays and weekends.

- To proactively involve young people and families/carers in service development and evaluation.
- Work collaboratively, and promote effective working relationships, with members of the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring effective clinical decision-making, internally and with external agencies.
- Deliver a programme of health promotion in liaison with the school and unit.
- To function as part of the multidisciplinary LSU service.
- To work in partnership with wider CAMHS, Children’s Services and Youth Offending Service.
- To provide a professional, non-stigmatising service to children and families/carers up to 18 years.
- Work collaboratively, and promote effective working relationships, with members of the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring effective clinical decision-making, internally and with external agencies.
- Empower Service Users and their families/carers to influence and use available services, information and skills and act as an advocate where appropriate.
- Provide full assessment and appropriate follow up care via care planning and clinical pathways, individual and group interventions, in partnership with young people
- Plan and deliver group interventions
- Adhere to Trust Policies in consideration of Children in Need and safeguarding issues and in maintaining accurate and effective written records.
