**Job description**:
As Head of Security you will play a central role in protecting the UK’s current and future digital identity ecosystem. At scale, One Login will be the front door for millions of users to access digital public services. Security, reliability and resilience are absolutely critical to delivering our mission. This is a high profile role, suited to an experienced security leader with a track record of setting direction on overall security strategy and operations for a complex area of work.

As Head of Security you will have oversight for ensuring that One Login is secure by design, building security awareness and embedding a robust security culture across Digital Identity, alongside responsibility for the operational security of One Login and incident response. In addition, you will:

- act as a champion for security across DI, setting out a vision and strategy with appropriate governance for proportionate and effective security monitoring defined in relation to the programme’s risk appetite and tolerance, ensuring the relevant internal and external controls are aligned to threats/risks and implementing regular opportunities for review and testing
- define, coordinate and have oversight for the delivery of operational cyber requirements, working with teams across DI as well as wider partners across GDS (Privacy, Information Assurance, Security Architecture, Cyber), CDIO Cyber, NCSC and other government departments. Take responsibility for the maintenance of system health, proactive threat monitoring
- take responsibility for embedding a robust security culture across the programme; ensuring that security is embedded with delivery
- have oversight for the development and maintenance of robust incident management processes, and creation of incident playbooks, working across GDS to ensure that the programme has well defined business continuity, resilience and disaster recovery plans
- develop and evolve security controls in line with changing requirements and an evolving threat landscape. Ensuring security controls are proportional and cost effective
- proactively engage with Programme governance processes to ensure that risk and security are considered in all approvals and Assurance requirements
- work in partnership with peers in Digital Identity, such as Head of Fraud, Architecture, Engineering, Product and Live Service, to define and coordinate requirements
- collaborate across the Cabinet Office and wider government with key stakeholders, such as Heads of Privacy, Information Assurance and Cyber, as well as NCSC, Government Security Group and delivery partners, to ensure standards and requirements are met

**Person specification**:
We’re interested in people who have experience and knowledge of:

- setting strategic direction on security architecture, capability and operations on a large scale, high profile or complex programme of work
- a track record of managing security, risk management and assurance at a Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) or near CNI level; providing relevant, robust and proportionate advice, direction and leadership
- delivering value in a complex, high volume live services environment; influence Senior Stakeholders to ensure that risk is appropriately managed, including communicating at executive and board level
- security risk management with a relentless focus on mitigating risks over time in a strategic and measured way
