**Currently seeking a motivated and talented individual with the appropriate experience for the position of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) specialist to work at our Trafford Park Chemical Production site.**

Our clients HSEQ Specialists support the HSEQ Manager by championing HSEQ initiatives in the workplace, ensuring implementation of corporate HSEQ strategy at site level, ensuring legal compliance and that Company standards are achieved and maintained.

In this vital role, you will report directly to the HSEQ Manager and interacts strongly with the facility managers, supervisors and other plant employees, acting in a coach / mentor capacity.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Support the HSEQ Manager and the operations team to ensure the facility remains in compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental regulations.
- Keep up-to-date with health, safety and environmental legislation, conduct gap analysis and support the site in maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Provide advice and guidance on health, safety and security matters.
- Liaise with key stakeholders and regulatory authorities (including the Health and Safety Executive), where appropriate.
- Participate in the development, regular review and update of the HSEQ Management System.
- Develop and maintain health, safety and security procedures, ensuring these are regularly reviewed and kept up to date.
- Assist the wider HSEQ Team on developing technical and operational IMS documentation.
- Conduct, lead or organise workplace risk assessments.
- Undertake incident investigation to learn lessons and implement improvements.
- Contribute to root cause analysis (RCA) for accidents and incidents, where appropriate.
- Support and provide HSEQ input into the sites management of change (MoC) procedures.
- Support and assist the HSEQ Manager with the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work with departmental managers to identify HSEQ training requirements and ensure that this training is delivered.
- Support the implementation of corporate HSEQ initiatives.
- Plan and execute emergency drills with the wider HSEQ Team.
- Play an active role in the MEC Support Team and assume the role of MEC Duty Manager, as required.
- Play an active role in the Internal Audit Team to effectively document operational performance and compliance. This Includes:

- Conducting management system audits as required under ISO 9001/14001.
- Carrying out permit-to-work and other relevant HSEQ inspections.
- Undertaking regular site walk-throughs to maintain HSEQ visibility and awareness.
- Support the preparation and execution of external (3rd party) audits (including the LXS corporate Compliance Check).
- Resolve site issues and assist in the implementation any new methods, techniques and practices arising from internal and external monitoring activities.
- Assist in the identification and delivery of HSEQ training needs.
- Develop each year the HSEQ training programme (for tool box talks and online training) and follow-up the completion.
- Contributing to the development and delivery of HSEQ training, development workshops or briefings for managers and employees.
- Collection and analysis of HSEQ performance data.
- Prepare regular reports as required (weekly, monthly, annual, ad hoc, etc.) on safety performance and departmental KPIs.
- In collaboration with the HSEQ Manager, monitor performance against targets and identify, recommend and help implement action plans as necessary.
- Provide support as necessary to help ensure safety culture improvement and operator safety engagement.
- In collaboration with the operations team increase the level of accident / near miss / hazard reporting and the close out of the associated actions.
- Identify HSEQ good practice for inclusion in Company communications.
- Assist the HSEQ Manager in preparations for meetings, management reviews and other forums and attend in their absence.
- Other additional tasks supporting the management of the Integrated Management System and supporting the HSEQ function as required. This includes providing HSEQ support to the ISO Tank maintenance facility located in Deeside, North Wales.

**About You**
- Bachelor’s Degree (in a relevant discipline) preferred.
- NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent (minimum).
- NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent (preferred).
- Hold or working towards Chartered status membership of IOSH (CMIOSH).
- Experience in a similar role as an HSEQ Advisor / Specialist.
- Experience in chemical manufacturing (COMAH facility) is a preference.
- Thorough knowledge of HSEQ laws, regulations, practice and standards.
- A working knowledge of asbestos and legionella management.
- Management of contractors experience
- Ability to manage and organise own workload with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to build effective working relationships and work as part of a team.
- Effective communicator with excellent presentation and report writing skills.
- Ability to liaise with all levels of staff including senior managers and operatives.
- Business/HSEQ process orientation: Follows and examines business/HSEQ processes for improvements and aligns with customer needs.
- Influence others: Asserts own ideas and persuade others, gain support, mobilize people to take action.
- Experience of ISO 9001/14001 and internal auditing.
- Good working IT knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional.
