**About the Group**

**Ministerial and Communications**

The Ministerial and Communications Group sits at the heart of the Treasury. It provides support to Ministers, through the Ministerial offices; it acts as the external face of the Treasury, through the Press Office and Communications teams; and it is responsible for the management of the department, through its support for the Permanent Secretary, the Treasury Board and the Executive Management Board (EMB), and its ownership of Treasury governance structures. The Group is led by the Permanent Secretary.

**About the Team**

The Communications Team is responsible for all communications conducted by HM Treasury and its Ministers. It works closely with Ministers, special advisors and policy teams to communicate the full range of the Treasury’s work, through traditional and new media channels.

The team is fast-paced, supportive and fun. We work highly collaboratively across the different aspects of communications (press, digital, events). The roles are high-profile and post-holders are given a large degree of ownership for their areas. The team is a flexible resource and the post-holder will need be ready to support colleagues during busy periods as responsibilities can move around to reflect Government priorities.

The Events & Visits team, within the Communications team, is currently comprised of five team members. As a small team, it works flexibly and collaborative to deliver a comprehensive Ministerial visit programme across the UK.

**Key accountabilities**

This is an exciting opportunity to work in one of the busiest and most high-profile communications teams in Whitehall, leading on all Chancellor events and visits. The post holder will receive an additional out-of-hours allowance and will travel within the UK and overseas.

Reporting to the Head of Economic and Strategic Communications, the key accountabilities are:

- Lead a team of five to plan all Chancellor media events and visits and support junior Minister visits where possible. You will develop and support your team members, promoting team capability. You will play an active part of the wider Comms management team, promoting a positive culture and our corporate objectives.
- Plan, co-ordinate and lead on high quality media events and visits for Ministers in order to deliver policy and communication objectives.
- Work in a team and individually to identify, recce and advance venues ahead of Ministerial visits, both in the UK and internationally.
- Travel with Ministers across the UK and overseas to ensure that they are well supported and briefed, that logistics are effectively executed, and potential risks mitigated.
- Work closely with Ministers, Special Advisors, Private Office and policy colleagues from within the Treasury and across government.
- Manage key stakeholders from a variety of sectors across industry to help support future visit opportunities.

Develop and keep refreshed a strategic programme of events that is well integrated with Treasury and Ministerial policy priorities.
