Healthcare Science Associate Apprenticeship Level 4.

This 24 month programme aims to develop competent Healthcare Science healthcare science associates to provide assistance to, practitioners, clinical scientists and others in Cardiac and Respiratory Science.

The post holder will undertake work based training in conjunction with the Healthcare Science Associate Training Programme, supported by the Academy of Healthcare Science.

As a Healthcare Science Associate Apprentice you'll support colleagues in healthcare science. You will be trained to perform a variety of Healthcare Associate supportive roles in a busy department, which will involve meeting, communicating and working with people from all backgrounds.

This role will be based primarily within the Department of Cardiac Investigations however to complete the requirements of the apprenticeship you will be required to attend the Respiratory Physiology department to compete competencies.

As an apprentice healthcare science associate you will be trained in performing a variety of physiological tests including ECGs, fitting ambulatory ECG and blood pressure monitors, interpret ECGs recordings, assisting trained Senior Cardiographers, Cardiac Physiologist and Healthcare scientists to provide a high level of patient care.

Your will be required to support Cardiac Physiologist and Healthcare Scientist to perform more complex procedures including tilt tests and exercise tolerance testing.

Work cooperatively with other professions and disciplines to encourage and develop a multidisciplinary approach to cardiac care.

This role as an apprentice healthcare science assistant is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are interested in working in a healthcare environment or to provide the foundations of a career in healthcare science.

You will be working directly with patients, preparing them for diagnostic tests and trained in performing some diagnostic testing which includes ECGs, ambulatory monitor fitting, inputting data, following procedures, ordering stock and any other associated administrative duties.

There will be classroom sessions and work based assessment which contributes to the learning element of the programme.

Apprentices will complete a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their learning and skills in practice in accordance with the apprenticeship framework.

The healthcare science level 4 apprenticeship is suited to those who are interested in the welfare of others and have a caring attitude to other people, with a keen interest in science. We are looking for an individual who can put the patient's needs before their own, be honest, friendly and have a professional attitude to work.

This position will be based mainly at UHCW however on occasion will require rotation to St Cross Hospital Rugby and the new City of Coventry Diagnostic Centre.

To support the provision of community diagnostic services by providing a range of diagnostic procedures across various sites at UHCW NHS Trust and other sites in the local area under the direction of the Respiratory and Cardiac Healthcare Science Teams. In this role you will be primarily based in Cardiac Investigations.
