Midweight Graphic Designer

**Role - **Graphic Designer

**Work Days - **5 days in the office

The current principal design & content tasks are:

- Client personalised content creation (content ranges from digital screen motion design through to printed collateral)
- Client advertising campaign mock ups - both existing & new campaign suggestions (mocked up postcards, posters, standees, digital posters etc. created / adjusted & inserted into location imagery as examples)
- Printed product design & development, principally for the educational sector (a range of diaries & other printed collateral aimed at students of all ages - from primary schools through to universities).
- Group website maintenance (image creation / manipulation, copy & layout updates via a simple CMS / uploading etc.). Knowledge of basic CSS/html & WordPress sites very desirable but not essential

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Being a key member of the Group Creative Department and playing an influential role to maintain and further the company’s creative credentials & reputation.
- Assisting the department with meeting the company’s various design & content needs - to deadlines.

**Person Specification (Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Characteristics)**
- Proven experience in both digital motion graphics design and print design, with a strong portfolio showcasing previous work.
- Experience & knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects & Wordpress
- Experience & knowledge of designing for print - basic understand of print process, knowledge of sending to print from InDesign, understanding of PDFs & using FTP sites
- The ability to generate creative ideas & innovation through both a personal & collaborative approach
- An understanding of consumer markets and how design & content could affect commercial outcomes; a developed sense for design aesthetics, an associated critical ability & the ability to articulate creative concepts
- A good general grasp of technology and the ability & desire to learn new principles & software that can be used in digital & online content creation
- The ability to follow a design brief or work on own initiative as appropriate. Self-motivated, resourceful, confident & willing to research & work problems through to resolution
- Strong organisation & time management skills: ability to prioritise efficiently and work to deadlines
- The ability to work methodically & accurately under pressure
- A proactive, professional attitude to all tasks, customers & teamwork
- A high level of commitment. Strong “can-do” approach to problem solving. Energetic, enthusiastic, efficient and willing to make an effective contribution to the business - a good all-rounder
- An absolute commitment to learning & self-development and a desire to keep up with (and help to implement) new technologies to keep the company’s creative & technological properties current and relevant to future markets

**Other Useful Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Characteristics**
- Experience & knowledge of html, CSS, & designing for web (useful but not essential)
- Experience & knowledge of utilising social media for marketing (useful but not essential)

**Job Types**: Full-time, Temporary contract, Fixed term contract, Temp to perm
Contract length: 3 months

**Salary**: £30,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
