We’re seeking a Purchase Ledger Clerk to join us here at Bristol Airport on a permanent basis. The primary responsibility will be the management, processing, and administration of the Purchase Ledger. They’ll ensure all supplier invoices are appropriately approved and paid in line with the company’s payment terms. This is an integral role within our Finance Team and would suit an applicant with previous experience in Purchase Ledger.

About the Role

The Purchase Ledger Clerk will have sole management of our Purchase Ledger and will ensure all supplier invoices are posted onto the system and approved in line with Bristol Airports policies and paid in line with our payment terms. They’ll manage the opening and maintenance of all suppler accounts; ensuring that all standing data is accurate and up to date alongside providing support to the wider business to ensure Purchase Orders are raised for all relevant costs. They’ll manage the preparation and processing of the Purchase Ledger BACS payment runs and weekly Bankline payments; ensuring that all payment are processed accurately and on a timely basis alongside posting all bank payments to the purchase ledger accounts.

Additionally, the role will also include:

- Reconciling all supplier accounts to supplier statements and follow-up any reconciling terms with suppliers
- Verify construction industry scheme (CIS) suppliers with HMRC
- Administer and account for all petty cash floats
- Ensure all employee expenses are appropriately approved with the necessary supporting documentation
- Provide support to the Management Accountant’s team in production of the month end and provide ad hoc support and cover for the rest of the Finance team as required

About You

You’ll be educated to A-level standard or equivalent and AAT/ACCA qualified or part qualified with the ability to analyse and interpret large volumes of data an explore the reason for any anomalies. Experience of the Purchase Ledger function is essential; with the ability to format data and present in the most effective manner for the wider Finance team.

You’ll be IT literate and confident in your ability in using a range of different accounting and database systems with an Intermediate to Advanced understanding of Excel. A good communicator is key; with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial colleagues and managers.

Experience of using MS Dynamics 365 and Workday Adaptive Planning is advantageous but not essential.
