**About the Role**

**Base Location**: Perth / Glasgow

**Salary**: £63,000 - £90,000 + car / car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

SSE Thermal Finance is looking for a Senior Finance Business Partner who will focus on the business's Market interactions across Generation and Gas Storage assets in GB and Ireland.

Reporting to the Finance Director Thermal and Energy Markets, you will be responsible for supporting SSE Thermal's Commercial and Market teams. You will provide financial insight and analysis to enable improved decision making and support improved business planning. You will be responsible for ownership of the market related financial plans and budgets within SSE Thermal and provide support and challenge to senior stakeholders across the wider business.

In addition, you will have wider responsibilities to work across the Group's Energy Businesses (Energy Markets, Energy Customer Solution, SSE Renewables and SSE Enterprise) to provide financial insight into market wide commodity exposures and ensure complex portfolio impacts are understood by senior stakeholders across the group.

You will be required to work closely with a range of stakeholders within the finance community, including teams responsible for Financial Reporting and Financial Control. You will ensure that impacts of Market interactions are incorporated fully into key financial deliverables, including budgeting, forecasting and annual external reporting.

Relationships built with commercial and energy market experts across the Group's Energy Business will be critical in delivering key management information to ensure understanding of financial risks and opportunities.

**Key responsibilities: -**
- Finance business partner support for SSE Thermal's Commercial and Markets teams. Building strong relationships across the Group's Energy business finance teams and market experts to enable collation of timely Energy wide reporting that will enhance the understanding of the Group's energy portfolio.
- Provide analysis and insight that enables SSE Thermal business to understand Market financial performance, risk and opportunities of Generation and Gas storage assets.
- Support key decision making (e.g. forward hedging, asset investment) impacting the SSE Thermal Business.
- Own the annual budget and in-year forecasting cycles for the SSE Thermal Commercial and Market teams, ensuring an efficient and value adding process, with inputs and outputs owned and fully understood by stakeholders.
- Collate, analyse and understand, the financial impact and risk of the Group's market commodity exposures. Provide financial insight to improve management information, monitoring and decision making.

**What do I need?**

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- A great understanding of energy markets in which SSE operates and enthusiastic curiosity about the 'energy contest'.
- Fully qualified accountant with 5+ years Post Qualified Experience in a Business Partner / Senior Finance Manager, business-interfacing role with experience of solving business issues of similar scale and complexity.
- Interpreting and assimilating multiple data sources, including external market data, and rendering into meaningful insight and appropriate recommendations and clear actions.
- Effectively communicating financial performance to commercial colleagues to embed financial understanding within the business.
- Influence strategy and translate this into actionable programmes, opportunities or activities that result in improved profitability or risk mitigation.
- Able to manage multiple complex projects/processes simultaneously.
