Red Kite Viewis the brand new, £20million young people’s mental health inpatient, and we are recruiting for a new team to deliver children and young people’s mental health services (CYPMHS) - a term for all services that work with children and young people who have difficulties with their mental health or wellbeing. These services are also known as children and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS).
The service is part of Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and is based in Armley, less than 3 miles from Leeds City Centre. It will provide inpatient care and support to families and young people from across West Yorkshire. It marks the start of an exciting new chapter in the provision of NHS services to young people living with mental health needs and their families. Red Kite View will allow you to work in a spacious, therapeutic environment that has been designed in consultation with staff and young people using the current services. This is your chance to be a part of something new, right from the very beginning.
The service opened in January and offers a welcoming, therapeutic environment to support young people aged from 13 up to 18 years of age who need the support of an inpatient service in their journey to recovery.
Our Health Care Support Workers are at the centre of engaging our young people in their care and treatment.
You will work in a way that promotes positive and collaborative working between all members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team and its partners within the Red Kite View Children and Young People’s Inpatient unit. The Healthcare Support Worker role is key in promoting therapeutic optimism and hope with young people who have complex mental health issues and /or a learning disability and/or autism.
You will provide a high standard of health care by assisting in and carrying out a range of duties and interventions under the direction and supervision of a registered clinician. You will work within the clinical team to deliver patient centred care, which promotes privacy, dignity and respect for the young people.
The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) is the main provider of Mental Health and Learning Disability services in Leeds. We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and some highly specialised services across the country. As a teaching trust with strong links to local universities, we are a centre of excellence for teaching, research and development.
There are many benefits of working for LYPFT including fantastic employee wellbeing support, 27 - 33 days annual leave, flexible working and remote working arrangements, the NHS Pension Scheme (LYPFT pays 20.6% into your scheme each year), coaching, support and opportunities for career development and training and education support alongside a range of exclusive discounts and payment schemes including for cars, extra leave days and more organisations such as Blue Light Card, Health Service Discounts and NHS Discount Offers.
Red Kite View supports young people experiencing significant psychiatric, psychological or emotional problems that are causing them interpersonal, educational and social functioning problems. The team works with a huge range of other services across West Yorkshire supporting young peoples’ mental health including the NHS, local authorities and third sector providers.
There are 2 wards at Red Kite View, general adolescent unit (GAU) and psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU). This post is for the Skylark Ward (GAU)
It has 22 beds, across two wards and is staffed by a dedicated multi-disciplinary team including nurses, psychiatrists, teachers, clinical psychologists, and a wide range of allied health professionals and non-clinical support staff. The service team works closely with the young person’s CYPMHS Community team during their stay at Red Kite View.
You will have great interpersonal skills and be able to establish a professional working relationship with young people and families. You will be cool in a crisis, it's a busy clinical area and we manage lots of risk-taking behaviour and deliberate self-harm. It is a demanding, yet rewarding role.
Ideally, you will have experience of working in mental health services or working with young people in an inpatient setting, although that’s not essential. Your values are more important to us and you will receive full training and induction in this role.
We are looking for someone who genuinely wants to make a lasting impact on young people, who insists on doing things with care and diligence and is able to think on their feet.
The CYPMHS inpatient unit structure has been newly designed specifically to enable and encourage progression, your development is vital to the service, so you will be fully supported to continue to progress within your career.
Experience of working with a range of service users with complex mental health needs and/or a learning disability and/or autism is very beneficial, coupled
