We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated health care professional to our vascular advanced practice team at UHD. Our vascular network consists of an arterial centre (Royal Bournemouth Hospital) and 2 non arterial sites, Dorchester and Salisbury hospital and alongside a team of 10 vascular consultants we aim to provide an exemplary service for our patients across Wiltshire and Dorset.

This role is a trainee ECP role within our well established arterial site in Bournemouth. The role will be well supported with a programme of training and competency ,and will work along side an experienced vascular advanced practice team.

We will expect the recruit to undertake full ECP training via the apprentice route and complete in house core competencies whilst working to full ECP credentials.

This is a trainee position and once you have completed the ECP course and in house competencies you will be moved to a Band 7. Please note that this progression to a Band 7 will likely take approximately 3 years depending on experience.

This is a training role and part of the wider transformation plans of the vascular services across our network.

This role requires a current registration with relevant professional body

To work seamlessly within established advanced practice team

To be an integral part of the vascular daily ward rounds

To provide complex wound care advice

To train and teach ward staff regarding vascular care

To complete post operative telephone calls

To triage urgent referrals

To be support to the consultant of the week

Provide support within the ambulatory emergency clinic

To safely perform pre operative assessment

To communicate ad integrate with the wider network team

To undertake a set training and competency based pathway with

supervision and support of the vascular ACP/ECP team and other members of the multi disciplinary team, working towards autonomously undertaking assessment of a discrete aspect of patient care within vascular services

To acquire the skills and knowledge to be an accountable person, responsible for managing practice, using an enhanced level of professional accountability, autonomy and judgement for highly complex decision-making across a discrete aspect of patient care in the vascular service

Through training, develop the ability to work autonomously, using enhanced clinical knowledge and skills, underpinned by theory and experience, to holistically assess patients with often complex conditions, using a range of methods across the specialist service

Under supervision, plan and manage care of patients within level of practice, working in partnership with others, to optimise health outcomes and resource use, as well as providing direct support to patients and carers

To propose and implement service and policy development and redesign, impacting beyond own area and other disciplines, informed by current best practice and evidence-base, in accordance with values-based care of the trust

To act as a resource to others and deliver and evaluate a range of relevant specialist programmes of education and development for individuals and large groups.
