Trainee Emergency Practitioner

The post holder will be based in the UTC within their base site, with the possibility of future cross site working and study. This clinically focussed role will encompass the skills of Minor illness and Minor injury assessment, diagnosis and treatment.
Once the Level 7 study and regional Minor injuries/illness course has been successfully completed, the Practitioner will progress to band 7 post ED review panel. There are further opportunities to later credential within the UEC environment or to move to the ED environment and credential with RCEM in the Majors setting.
This post can also be filled by a band 7 Practitioner who has already meet the requirements.
The post holder will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, alongside previous/current ED experience.
This role requires NMC or HCPC registration
**Base Location**: Bournemouth
**Interview Date**: TBC
- To be actively involved in managing the care of patients within the Emergency Department.
- To undertake a physical assessment and examination of patients in order to make a differential diagnosis and implement an appropriate management plan.
- Order appropriate investigations as determined by physical examination, interpret the results and act appropriately on the findings.
- Make independent, autonomous clinical decisions relating to patient condition and treatment/care. May require some supervision and will be expected to obtain support from senior members of staff to make decisions, which may be outside scope of clinical knowledge.
- Following training independently prescribe appropriate medications within agreed formulary.
- To provide individualised health promotion and education to patients.
- To record assessment findings and management plans in a timely manner with the patients’ medical notes
UHD are investing in services across the Trust, with many being transformed and developed following merger and the New Hospital Programme.
