Protecting and enhancing East Anglia’s natural resources are unique and exciting challenges. We help people and wildlife adapt to climate change, work to reduce the impacts of flooding, drought, rising sea levels and coastal erosion.
- We're looking for someone with a good awareness of programme management for this role in the Programme Team at the heart of Flood Risk Management in East Anglia. Working as a Programme Advisor, the role will lead on the Area's contribution to the National flood risk Capital and Resource programmes, with a target of delivering 336K properties better protected by 2027.
- This post will work as part of our Integrated Delivery Team, across internal and external teams to improve programme data capture, quality assurance, review and analysis.
- This role is varied and draws upon a diverse range of transferrable skills, which include (but not limited to):
- Proactive in driving projects forward to delivery, identifying & resolving risks, issues, and opportunities.
- Helping to develop integration across disciplines through developing and planning programmes of work.
- Ensuring projects report on multiple benefits including properties, efficiencies, carbon reduction programme performance and environmental enhancements.
- Responsible for providing regular, accurate and timely updates on progress. Preparing and delivering reports and presentations for internal and external customers.
- Developing and improving data quality performance across projects through current and new systems.
- Identifying and embedding new ways of working across Area teams including training.

The Environment Agency take part in incident response. Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You'll be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support with incident roles.

The team
- The East Anglia Programme team is friendly, enthusiastic, and supportive with a good reputation for working across the organisation to make a positive difference to people and the environment.
- The team is dispersed, with colleagues located across East Anglia and is a core part of the Area Flood and Coastal Risk Management Department who manage and deliver the National Flood and Coastal Risk Management programme.

Experience/skills required
- Through experience to date, we're seeking somebody who;- Has proven experience in programme management with good data management skills
- Can identify clear narratives from data and information.
- Thinks strategically to influence required outcomes.
- Is well organised and able to work effectively under pressure.
- Can solve problems to prioritise and manage complex programmes with competing outcomes.
- Is able to deliver results through others; especially important when working across teams and the organisation.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to present convincing verbal and written advice to key stakeholders.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, (especially Excel).
- Driving licence is not essential but you must be able to travel across East Anglia to co-locate with other teams.
