**Hours: 37 hours**

**Contract: Permanent**

Humberside Police are recruiting for a Missing Person Officer to join the Locate department. This is a key role for both the safeguarding and management of missing people and works with partner agencies to prevent, disrupt, or resolve missing incidents, preserve life, keep the peace, and enhance the quality of life of the community.

You will work as part of the overall policing response to the management and investigation of missing persons, ensuring that harm is prevented and ensuring the welfare of vulnerable people is a paramount consideration at all times.

**The role will include**:

- Supporting and conducting missing person investigations.
- Liaising and developing strong working relationships with multi-agencies and key stakeholders involved with the safeguarding and the welfare of vulnerable people.
- Developing strategies to reduce the vulnerability and incidents of regular missing persons and establishments frequently reporting missing persons.
- Attending multi-agency meetings to share information relating to the missing person and agree actions around safeguarding, short and long term strategies and plans to prevent further missing episodes as well as plans for the individuals return.
- Ensuring all information obtained is recorded on Police Systems, liaising with Police Colleagues to share information or highlight any areas of concern.
- Reviewing all return home interviews.

**What is required?**
- Can demonstrate up to date knowledge, skills and competencies within the multi-agency safeguarding arena.
- Have a good working knowledge of how to conduct investigations.
- Understanding of key legislation that is relevant to the investigations of missing person(s).
- Is able to speak clearly in a way those listening can understand and is able to communicate with adults, children and young people of all ages.
- Well-developed oral and written skills in order to deal with people at all levels.
- Is able to collate, analyse and evaluate complex information effectively to reach well-reasoned conclusions.
- Computer literate, including maintaining computerised databases and use of Microsoft products.
- Experience of managing confidential and sensitive information.
- Knowledge of Data Protection Act.
- Supervisory and performance review skills.
- Ability to travel across the Force, with a full driving license.
