**About us**:
The Dementia Research Centre (DRC) is based in the Department of Neurodegenerative Disease, which is recognised as one of foremost international centres for the study of dementia and other neurodegenerative disease. The DRC is a multidisciplinary research centre with the overarching aim of improving the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with dementia and the support for their families.

**About the role**:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to join our team focusing on identifying biomarkers in the dementias. You will participate in the organisation of the retrospective and prospective biosample collection at the DRC. Collection, processing and storage of blood, urine and cerebrospinal fluid samples are crucial to identifying and understanding the disease processes that cause dementia and helping to find new treatments.

You will link between the DRC, MRC Unit for Lifelong Health and Ageing, and the Dementia Research Institute Biomarker and Genetics Laboratories. Your primary role will be to process and database both previously collected and incoming samples, and to take responsibility for high quality data management and governance in relation to these samples. You will also assist when needed with transfer, preparation of material transfer agreements allowing sharing, and analysis of these samples.

An honorary contract will be sought from UCLH NHS Foundation Trust, for which a DBS check will be required.

The post is available from 01 April 2023 and funded by a grant from the NIHR until 30 April 2024 in the first instance.

**About you**:
You will have an honours degree (min 2:1) in Neuroscience or related discipline and experience with database management. In addition to strong problem solving skills, you will enjoy working with people and possess a confident and calm demeanour, maintain professional boundaries and deal with sensitive and confidential patient related information in the appropriate manner.
