**Job summary**:

- The Mission Ready Training Centre (MRTC) is part of the Army Collective Training Group and is responsible for assuring the directed training of both individual soldiers and formed units deploying on Operations within the UK and worldwide. After being closed for several years, Bassingbourn Barracks is undergoing a complete modernisation to accommodate MRTC and numerous smaller lodger units. The MRTC is a mix of Army personnel (both Regular and Reserve) and Civil Servants.
- An essential role within the MTMC Military Transport (MT) Department, responsible for supporting Mission Rehearsal Exercise Delivery through the driving of vehicles and conducting other tasks where required.
- This vacancy is advertised at 37 hours per week.**Job description**:
The civilian drivers will form part of the MT team, offering continuity to the department and assisting the MT Manager in delivering maximum vehicle fleet availability through good administrative processes.

**Person specification**:

- Collection and delivery of a wide range of fleet vehicles.
- Organise rental vehicles, including collection and drop-off.
- Drive a variety of vehicles (including Coach) for collection/drop-off of individuals/groups to/from locations throughout the UK. This may include loading vehicles so a degree of physical ability is required as you may have to lift and carry items onto the vehicle.
- Issue and receipt of vehicles to/from entitled personnel.
- Maintain civilian and military vehicles in accordance with MOD policy and H&S standards. This will require a degree of physical ability as you will be expected to lift and carry spares/tools/lubricant and work on parts of vehicles that may have restricted access/space.
- Maintain and update MT IT operating systems documents, H&S records, inspection reports and general office administration as required.
- Build and maintain good working relationships with external agencies, rental companies and suppliers to ensure smooth negotiations under budgetary constraints.
- Any other duties as directed by the MTO.

This post will require a degree of physical ability as you will be expected to lift and carry spares/tools and work on parts of vehicles that may have restricted access/space. In accordance with HSE guidance, the recommended maximum manual handling weight that applicants can expect to lift is men (25kg) and women (16kg).

These posts have a regular opportunity to work overtime and will involve on occasions working outside of the core hours, so a degree of flexibility is required. (This may require the need to work on evenings, weekends, Bank Holidays or outside Core hours. Overtime pay or time off in lieu will be granted).

**Licences**:

- ESSENTIAL Full Driving Licence plus CAT D - you will be driving any bus (including coaches) with more than 8 passenger seats
