An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Superintendent, Nautical and Marine Safety to join our Maritime Department on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract.

**The Role**

In this role you will be responsible for responsible for supporting the Superintendent Nautical and Marine Safety and Senior Manger Nautical and Marine Safety in ensuring that all aspects of Nautical, Marine Safety and operational standards are implemented effectively, through facilitating, delivering and supporting improvements in policy, procedures and training in compliance with Regulatory, Port State, Flag State and Company standards.

This role will involve providing guidance to the fleet on Nautical and emergency preparedness as tasked by the Superintendent Nautical and Marine Safety.

You will work with Superintendent Nautical & Marine Safety to drive improvements and changes to emergency response and build a consensus across the fleet on improvements to marine safety.

You will improve and maintain emergency response documentation (Emergency Towing manual, SAR manual, SOLAS training manual, ERP manual, Emergency Mistral database) as well as emergency procedures and checklists whilst supporting the review of risk assessments and marine operation procedures.

In addition you will support the fleet on managing e-mustering, undertaking training and responding to queries as well as taking responsibility for Nautical Port Assessments and support Mooring Analysis projects.

**About You**

To be successful in this role you will need to have previous experience as a Senior Deck Officer including a Senior Deck Officer qualification (or equivalent) You will also have knowledge of emergency response planning.

You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to demonstrate influencing and decision making skills.

Experience/relevant qualifications within ship operations, risk assessment and Health and Safety is desirable.
