Clinical Technology is responsible for the management and maintenance of the Trust's wide range of specialist medical equipment and provides maintenance services to partner healthcare provider organisations across the Cornwall Integrated Care System. We have implemented RFID asset tracking across our Trust, achieved a high level of medical equipment maintenance compliance and are ambitious to continually further improve the service we provide to the Trust and partners.

The post holder will be responsible for overseeing several specialist IT systems within the department for asset management, tracking and KPI reporting. The post holder will take the lead in the developing area of IT-connected medical devices and build up a close relationship with our Trust IT service - Cornwall IT Services (CITS).

The post holder will have relevant IM&T systems management experience, high attention to detail and will be able to demonstrate ability to work under own initiative to lead progress in field.

The post holder will be a key member of the Quality, Support & Logistics team, working with colleagues to develop our systems and processes to improve the logistics of equipment flows & management through our service.

To become the focal point for the Department in leading and developing the implementation and exploitation of medical device connectivity capabilities.

To work closely with clinical areas, Clinical Technology team members and CITS to support IT connected medical devices (e.g.patient monitoring systems).

To become the primary system manager for the Department’s asset management system ‘e-Quip’, developing a programme to drive improvements in utilisation and data accuracy.

To oversee, and improve upon, current systems of producing Key Performance Indicators, and to ensure the timely and accurate production, presentation and analysis of such data.

Plan and implement the planned preventative maintenance of equipment/systems, across all teams as required by management, producing work packages for other technicians as required. Contact clinical staff, suppliers and contractors if necessary, to ensure maintenance work is carried out on time, safely and with the minimum disruption to patients.

Carry out safety and acceptance testing, calibration and quality control on all new devices the individual has responsibility for and ensuring the device has suitable user manuals and service information.

Supervise commissioning of new equipment installations, attending any service and technical training as may be required.

Provide training and advice as required to support staff on device-specific aspects and requirements to facilitate support.

Provide training and advice as required to other technicians in the applicable aspects of IT and connectivity.
