We are looking for a conscientious and adaptable person to work with the service. As part of a team of 14, you will be helping to provide an efficient and comprehensive secretarial service to our team of healthcare professionals. Experience of providing administrative support is essential.
Previous experience in a healthcare setting would be an advantage; however, full training will be given on our in-house IT systems.
Applicants should display excellent communication skills as the post holder will be liaising with staff at all levels.
To provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to clinical staff using a range of secretarial procedures in accordance with the processes.
To contribute to the effective delivery of patient care, through knowledge of consultant practice and hospital systems.
To be flexible to provide cover for colleagues as necessary as directed by the Clinical Admin Lead.
Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust is the biggest provider of healthcare services in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Our three main sites are Royal Cornwall Hospital Truro, St Michael’s Hospital Hayle and West Cornwall Hospital Penzance, our staff and services are available across the region.
The Trust employs 5,000+ staff, has a budget of £380 million and 750 beds. We work with health and social care organisations -including NHS Kernow and NHS England
- to ensure local healthcare needs are met. We provide acute medical, surgical and specialist services to around 500,000- which can increase significantly during busy holiday periods.
The Trust has teaching hospitals status as part of the University of Exeter Medical School. Keeping at the forefront of medical advances, we continually develop clinical services and are committed to maximising the range of specialist care offered locally.
We can offer you a rewarding career in a supportive working environment. We have extensive educational links to help you realise your full potential and develop skills to provide outstanding healthcare to the local community.
Sustainability is integral to the Trust achieving the NHS Net Zero target. All staff are therefore actively encouraged and supported to implement new ways of working within their field of expertise.
Take and process telephone calls in an appropriate manner. Telephone calls will involve contact with patients, carers and health professionals and may involve the provision of non-clinical advice.
General correspondence, e.g. discharge summaries, reports and other communication by use of advanced keyboard skills either using audio typing techniques or other digital formats as directed by the Clinical Admin Lead, utilising the ability to accurately transcribe dictation, understanding the context and re-arranging as necessary. Correspondence may be of a distressing nature.
To fulfil all administrative duties required by the post including validation of patient pathways adhering to the Trust's government targets.
Many of our staff work flexibly in different ways. Please talk to us at interview about any flexible working arrangements you would prefer or require.
