The role of the Training and Behaviour Advisor will primarily be to support our breeding operations, as well as other areas or the organisation, to achieve the objectives set out, and maintain continuous improvement.

The role is supported by the Training and Behaviour Consultant (TBC) and will primarily be focussed on providing expert training and behaviour advice and practical support to both staff and volunteers on the breeding programme.

In addition to this they will also offer support nationally, across the organisation, in support of our standardised care and training for all our canine roles.

To ensure the highest standards of physical health, the dogs on the breeding programme receive regular thorough veterinary care and assessments as such, there is a strong focus on rolling out the LIMA principle and cooperative care techniques across our breeding programme.

This is an Office based role with regular travel from a home start. There may also be an opportunity to work from home.

The working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week, with 26 days paid holiday (excluding bank holidays) a year.

**Essential**
- Accredited qualification in animal behaviour and/or training, or equivalent experience.
- Membership to relevant bodies associated with the animal training and behaviour modification field.
- Experience of working with animals, in relation to the shaping of behaviours and task acquisition.
- Practical, hands-on experience within the field of behaviour modification and animal training at both a practitioner and supervisor level.
- Experience of coaching and training individuals and groups of people in practical skills and theoretical knowledge.
- Proven experience of carrying out behaviour modification programmes with animals.
- A working knowledge of animal ethology, behaviour, learning theory, animal ethics and positive reinforcement training techniques.
- Significant expertise and experience in the use of positive reinforcement training animal techniques.

**Desirable**
- Accredited dog trainer/instructor (e.g., with Association of Pet Dog Trainers or Karen Pryor Academy).
- Experience working with volunteers
- Experience of working with a wide variety of dogs, and breeds with varied temperaments and needs.
- Experience of supporting elements of organisational change or continuous improvement.
