The health and safety assistant sits within the compliance team of Samsung UK. The role is responsible for ensuring the effective management of health and safety for Samsung employees and contractors is a priority for our business.

Role and Responsibilities

Your Key Responsibilities:
The Health & Safety Assistant is required to support the Health & Safety Manager, ensuring that compliance requirements are met, support the development and implementation of policies and strategies to address H&S obligations, and work with both external partners and internal teams to support the developing needs of the business. As a member of the SEUK H&S team, you will be helping deliver innovative programmes to ensure SEUK is maintaining industry standards.

As the Health & Safety Assistant you will be involved in the following activities:
- Supporting the review, administration and improvement of SEUK’s H&S compliance policies and processes.- Providing general administrative support, including the co-ordination and delivery of H&S compliance training, and Samsung’s H&S Committee.- Engaging employees and contractors to support H&S needs and ensuring a suitable working environment.- Handling legislative changes and updating compliance registers. Researching H&S policy and regulatory developments which could impact SEUK’s H&S management programme.- Coordinating our audit programme to assess the efficiency of SEUK’s compliance policies and processes.- Responsible for the H&S Team mailbox - Dealing with general questions- Scheduling and Assigning training courses and keeping completion records- Generating reports on training compliance and H&S incident using existing software.- Requesting and filling compliance certification.

What we need for this role

To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Administration skills- Thorough and attention to detail- The ability to work well with others- Sensitivity and understanding- Customer service skills- To be able to use a computer and the main software packages competently- Experience in scedulling training or meeting management- A background in Health and safety is not essential as training will be given.

What does success look like?

A smooth handover with the current H&S Assistant to understand the Learning Manangement System used and allow continued support to ensure training stats do not decline.

Success will be measured by taking ownership of the key tasks and ensuring they are completed in a suitable time frame.

As the initial contact for H&S queries it is expected that the individual will gain experience giving them understanding of the company processes in place and be able to field some questions and direct others to the H&S Manager.
