Seasonal Cash Office Assistant

This is a key role working as part of our professional cash office team taking responsibility for the counting, checking and processing of the takings from the daily trading activities.
**The Role**
As a Seasonal cash office assistant, you’ll be part of a passionate team helping to create inspirational days out for visitors. You will assist in the day to day running of the cash office alongside the cash office co-ordinators, senior cash office co-ordinator & supervisors. While delivering the highest standards of customer service you will ensure that all money due to the Zoo through daily trading activities on site, online and telephone sales are banked and reported correctly to allow smooth transactions in the Zoo and to ensure that cash is banked promptly.
Planning on a seasonal basis the cash flow requirements for the Zoo, based off previous trends, weather, events and school holidays. Workload is dictated by visitor figures and has to be planned as it may require working extra hours to ensure daily completion. Cash office staff need to provide cover for each day the Zoo is open. Our working environment could not be more different from a typical cash office setting, where else could you stroll among rare giraffes and tigers on your lunch break?
**The Package**
- Temporary fixed term contract, working until end of October
- 16 hours a week, worked 8.30am to 12.30pm over 4 days out of 7, including weekends as rostered.
- £8,985.60 per annum (based on 16 hours per week)
- 33 days annual leave (pro rata to days worked)

**Our Requirements - Seasonal Cash Office Assistant**
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- Experience in the use of spreadsheets and database packages
- Experience in following audit trails including the detection and prevention of fraud
- Experience in cash handling procedures including card transactions, cheques, and banking procedures
- Experience in handling large sums of money
- Experience in customer service
- Prioritising own workload
- Knowing when to report discrepancies to the supervisors or the senior co-ordinator in their absence
- Recommendations of improvements to processes or equipment
Although not essential, the following would be desirable:
- Experience using Microsoft Office
- Experience working within a retail or visitor attraction environment
**Please note that we are busiest during the Zoo’s peak times (school holidays and bank holidays); with this in mind the taking of annual leave at these times is restricted. This can be discussed further at interview stage.**
