Peer Support Worker

Chorlton cum Hardy, United Kingdom Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust Full time

We would like to recruit an experienced peer mentor to join our team and help us enhance the support we offer to our Early Intervention service users, families and colleagues. We would like the successful applicant to assist in developing our ability to offer volunteering opportunities to current and ex-service users who themselves want to become peer mentors.

The successful applicant will provide support to people aged 14 - 65 years experiencing a first episode of psychosis.

Although challenging, we anticipate that this role will be very rewarding and the successful applicant will be well supported and highly valued. Because the role is going to involve working alongside families and individuals who at times experience significant distress, as well as facilitating training, family therapy and supporting new volunteers, we are seeking a peer mentor who already has a significant amount of experience of working as a peer mentor within Early Intervention services previously.

Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) Foundation Trust employs over 6,400 members of staff, who deliver services from more than 160 locations.

We provide inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bolton, the city of Manchester, Salford, Trafford and the borough of Wigan, and a wide range of specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester, the north west of England and beyond.

Greater Manchester is one of the world's most innovative, original and exciting places to live and work. From the beauty of the surrounding countryside to the heart of the vibrant inner city with great shopping, entertainment and dining options.

Wherever you go you will experience a great northern welcome with people famed for their warmth, humour and generosity.

Our people enjoy their work, have opportunities to learn and develop their skills and are encouraged to generate new ideas that improve care for our service users.
