An opportunity has arisen for an efficient receptionist clerk who is passionate about delivering excellent customer care.

Most of the work is computer based so a good knowledge of general use of computers would be required for applicants.

Receptionist to cover across King’s South Site’s incorporating - The Princess Royal University Hospital, Orpington Hospital, Beckenham Beacon and Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup.

JOB PURPOSE

To provide a comprehensive receptionist, administrative and supportive service to the multidisciplinary team and to patients of the unit and to accurately maintain patient records and statistical information, utilising computer facilities available.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To welcome and receive all patients and visitors attending, taking appropriate details and completing patient contact forms at the initial visit.
2. To give general advice about the services, where to refer and how to access services to both patients and health care professionals.
3. To generate patient IT accounts as necessary and make appointments, booking patients in and out of clinics.
4. To make, cancel or rebook appointments for specialist nurses and consultants, via telephone, letter or in person.
5. To be involved in the computerisation of systems, including entering and updating of patient data and to retrieving data from the computer as requested.
6. To prepare documents and hand outs utilising word processor facilities and ensure there are always adequate stocks.
7. To maintain diaries, appointments system and records ensuring follow up as requested, including those who fail to attend.
8. To organise additional services for patients as required, such as interpreters and transport
9. To undertake the full range of general office duties, including the filing of patient records and photocopying of standard letters and educational material.
10. To take phone calls from other health care professionals and the general public, referring on as necessary. To accurately take and document messages for the multidisciplinary team
11. To obtain notes from medical records or other departments as needed and track these notes in and out of the department.
12. To order stationery and printed material required for the maintenance of the service both from internal and external sources.
13. To arrange for urgent bloods to be analysed as quickly as possible (telephoning laboratory an escorting patient to blood test reception) and report results to ordering clinician.
14. To actively participate in the Team Meetings.
15. To show visiting staff around the area and give an outline of the service provided by Outpatients as necessary.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To comply with all Trust and departmental procedures.
2. To participate in appraisal and performance reviews.
3. To undertake mandatory training as required by the Trust.
4. May be asked on occasions to offer receptionist cover at other South Sites

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
