The Company
Sported is a leading charity supporting the UK's largest network of sport and physical activity groups and we exist to provide the skills, resources and funding needed for them to become sustainable and deliver services to the young people and communities they serve.
It has never been a harder time to be a young person growing up in the UK. Poverty, crime and mental health issues coupled with youth unemployment and COVID-19, have compounded already disadvantaged communities and individuals and widened inequalities.
We support the thousands of community sports groups that seek to remove barriers from young people’s lives to allow them to thrive against the odds.
We’re now looking for a Race Equity Lead, to join us on a permanent, full-time basis and support our continuing efforts to bring about change through sport.
The Benefits
- A salary of £30,900 - £38,110 per annum
- 25 days’ holiday in addition to statutory bank holidays (pro rata)

- Volunteer Days - two additional days of paid leave each year to volunteer for another charity or our client’s members

The Role
As a Race Equity Lead, you will ensure racial representation in sport and within Sported’s activities.
Specifically, you will spearhead our anti-racism work, both internally and externally, and advocate for our members, supporting them in providing opportunities for young people.
Joining a team of People, Culture and Inclusion experts, you will model inclusive behaviours, acting as a catalyst for positive, lasting change for young people facing barriers or experiencing racism in grassroots sport and physical activity.
**Additionally, you will**:
- Prioritise the outcomes of our ‘Tackling Racism in Grassroots Sport’ report
- Support groups such as the independent Black Leaders in Sport Network
- Lead, grow and shape a range of projects
About You
**To be considered as a Race Equity Lead, you will need**:
- Experience within inclusion-based roles
- A proven track record of creating measurable impact in sport for development sector
- Lived experience of working to secure Race Equity
- The ability to develop new EDI initiatives
- Collaborative leadership skills
- Project management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
