Job description

**Contract Type**: Fixed Term

**Hours**: 37 hours per week

**Location of post**: Port Talbot Civic Centre, SA13 1PJ

We are currently looking for a Children and Families Team Dad’s Worker to join our team.

The main duties of the post;
To deliver parenting support with a particular, but not exclusive focus on dads, helping them to embrace their role as dads and to develop appropriate parenting skills.

To work collaboratively with dads to develop and strengthen their parenting skills and promote positive parent/child relationships.

To deliver a range of evidence based parenting programmes and offer practical support through a range of activities and learning opportunities both on a one to one and group situation.

To work as part of a multi-agency disciplinary team to ensure the holistic needs of the family are met.

Providing practical support for dads using creative methods both on a one to one and in group situation. Including the organising and delivery of group based programmes around various parenting themes/difficulties.

To organise community engagement events throughout the county to raise awareness of the team and provide support and guidance for dads.

To actively participate in supporting the principles and practice of an equality of opportunity as laid down in the authority’s Equal Opportunities Policy

You will have experience in/of;
Working with families with multiple and complex needs in the home and community settings

Experience of lone working in a family home and in the community

Experience of delivering and facilitating Parenting Programmes in a group and one to one setting

Experience of devising Parenting programmes according to the needs of targeted groups

Experience of evaluating and measuring parenting outcomes against project outcomes

Ideally you will have;
Minimum of Level 3 qualification or equivalent in relevant discipline

Family Links Nurturing Programme Parent Group Leader Qualification or willingness to undertake the training
