**What will you be doing**

A senior management role with responsibility for providing overall leadership, strategic direction and ongoing management of the effective delivery of the Market Surveillance Program globally. Reporting to the Head of Market Surveillance, the role holder will be accountable for ensuring compliance with all relevant policies, procedures and regulations relating to market surveillance for Barclays UK and Barclays Bank PLC. This includes any local regulatory requirements and adhering to guidance from respective industry bodies (where appropriate).
- Delivery of a Global Market Surveillance Program to effectively manage the risks which manifest in trading, in accordance with the following Standards:

- Risk Assessments & Rules
- Data Management Framework
- Risk based System Configuration
- Reporting, MI & Stakeholder Engagement
- Related (non Automated) Surveillance Controls
- Effective optimisation of both Rules and System
- Model Validation requirements
- Model Owner for Market Surveillance models across trade, control room, voice and electronic communications, with accountability for ongoing design and implementation of market leading surveillance techniques.
- Ensuring the Surveillance Models remain compliant with the Group Model Risk Framework.
- Major stakeholder / contributor to design and implementation of data strategy to support market surveillance future state, supporting surveillance aspirations
- Champion and advance Global Surveillance, and the role it plays in managing Conduct risk
- Develop and nurture staff capabilities and the quality of output in this specialist surveillance discipline
- Represent Barclays at external industry forums tasked with developing the future industry approach to surveillance

- A proven track record in the implementation, ongoing maintenance and Optimisation of global surveillance systems
- Strong understanding of Market Surveillance risks/typologies, and how they present themselves in the underlying data and transaction flows of the various customer and banking products
- Good understanding of the power of Analytics to supplement global surveillance strategies
- Detailed understanding of appropriate International and National regulatory laws and requirements which govern and inform surveillance activities
- Experience of providing effective leadership in a matrix structure
