Do you have a desire and passion to work with children? If so, we are currently recruiting for a Early Years apprentice for Bright Beginnings Nursery in Lincoln.

**Apprenticeship information**:
In their daily work, an employee in this occupation interacts with parents, children, colleagues and wider multi agency professionals and partners such as health visitors, social workers and speech and language therapists. Individuals will undergo all checks as per the EYFS requirements to ensure suitability to work with children. Due to the nature and level of responsibility it is not anticipated that the role would have any budgetary or leadership responsibilities.

**Role purpose**
- To ensure highest levels of care are provided for every child and that supervision and appropriate interaction is given during play and care routines at all times.
- Take part in the day-to-day administration and record keeping, (e.g. Messages to and from parents, register, accident forms etc.) following the lead of the other nursery staff.
- Carry out relative activities according to what the room staff have planned, ensuring that each child is treated as an individual.
- Make observations for children’s individual learning journeys, using the development matters framework
- Preparation of food and drink
- Administer first aid as appropriate (if first aid trained)
- Carry out all responsibilities and activities within the equal opportunities framework
- Complete all checklists and follow morning and evening procedures to ensure that the setting is clean and safe.
- Follow the lead of the supervisor with completion of all appropriate forms, checklists, registers etc

Delivery of quality care and duties
- Provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment
- Supervision and appropriate interaction of children at play and during care routines at all times.
- Provide full care of the children ensuring their welfare is provided for at all times, including providing adequate refreshments.
- Check with room supervisor that children are collected by a parent/carer with authorisation to do so.
- Ensure a shared responsibility for the health, safety and cleanliness. Operate the highest standard of hygiene in the handling of food, nappy changing/toilets, messy play and outside particularly garden area. Use clothing appropriate to weather conditions such as sunhats and cream or coats, hats & gloves.
- Assist with cleaning duties and ensure the setting is clean and tidy and safety is observed being alert to potential hazards both inside and outside.
- Assist in the presentation of the setting including displays dedicated to the early years and that children’s work displayed in appropriate places.

Quality customer care and communication
- Communicate with parents/carers in a professional manner
- Ensure communication/feedback with parents is relevant and informative and handle requests with tact and diplomacy supporting their needs and wishes wherever possible.

Professionalism and teamwork
- Attend all staff meetings as stated in the policies
- Work within the policies of the setting and work with the supervisor in suggestions to review and update the policies throughout the year.
- Act as a role model to students and lead by example

Code of conduct
- Maintain a professional approach behaviour and confidentiality at all times
- Ensure you attend appraisals with your manager
- Attend staff meetings and meetings with management when required
- Attend all compulsory training
- Adhere to uniform policy at all times (e.g. black trousers, suitable shoes, tunic etc.)
- Ensure your mobile phone is not on your person at any time
- Adhere to all policies and procedures

To perform any other duties as deemed to be appropriate by your supervisor and management

**Education/Qualifications**
- To hold English or Mathematics GCSEs at level 4 / C or above.

You will be on the hourly rate of pay which is advertised above, then after your first 12 months, this will be increased to the National Minimum Wage for your age bracket.
