**About this role**:
The role of Criminal Records Officer requires an individual who is able to interrogate complex Police computer systems and databases to check for relevant information held against a DBS applicant in line with the Quality Assurance Framework (QAF). Once the information has been gathered, a detailed risk assessment needs to be conducted to establish an applicant’s suitability to work with vulnerable groups in accordance with relevant legislation. The role requires a highly motivated individual who is confident working in a target driven environment whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy through their decision making.

DBS has a dedicated training team within the department. Each new recruit is allocated a specific trainer who takes them through a step by step training plan. The training plan covers how to complete each aspect of the Criminal Records Officer role and each recruit will be signed off at different stages, if they are successful in completing the objectives set.

**Essential Skills**:

- Proven ability to complete research
- Ability to collate and present findings in a structured report
- Computer literate and ability to use several complex computer packages simultaneously
- Decision making skills and the ability to make accurate choices
- Demonstrate high integrity and confidentiality
- Ability to organise and prioritise work
- Ability to work under pressure and meet targets

**Vetting**:Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

**Medical**:Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
