Edinburgh, United Kingdom Forth Estuary Forum Full time

**About Forth Estuary Forum**

We are the Coastal Partnership for the Firth of Forth extending from Stirling to the North Sea. Our primary purpose is to promote sustainable use of the Forth for economic or social benefit while conserving or enhancing the natural environment and resources for future generations.

**Integrated coastal management**:

- Forth Estuary Forum, as a neutral charity, has championed integrated coastal zone management for 25 years, by bringing together stakeholder organisations from across national and local government, commercial and voluntary/conservation sectors.

**Regional marine planning **- FEF is part-funded by Marine Scotland to prepare to introduce statutory regional marine planning to the Forth together with the amazing Berwickshire Coast.

**Research & knowledge dissemination **- FEF is leading the SEACOR project (see below) to compile a State of the Coast review with a particular focus on pressures and sustainability.

**Outcome-based projects **- FEF is developing a new programme of collaborative projects based on latest insights and spanning coastal/marine clean-up, citizen science, public awareness and region promotion; including partnering with the region’s universities and their world-leading innovation.

**About the project**

The Scottish East Coast Review brings together four Local Coastal Partnerships (LCPs, see top of page) to gather, synthesise and enhance access to actionable knowledge of the current state and future needs of the entire East Coast.

Greater knowledge of the condition, the diverse pressures and associated impacts, together with economic and social activities and their effects, will enable the LCPs to maintain their unique and distinctive role supporting local, regional and national stakeholders and their common purpose. Enhanced access and insight will facilitate planning and management at local and regional level.

The review will contribute crucial evidence required for statutory regional marine planning and to support effective management of sustainable coasts and seas.

It will explore the potential to incorporate more citizen science into the evidence base and future monitoring, and hence enhance local contribution to decision making.

By curating relevant information, the LCPs will be able to offer and provide crucial support to local communities considering development plans for their locale under new planning provisions and to business, which is taking an increasingly active interest in environment and sustainability matters.

The project is funded by the European Maritime & Fisheries Fund and Scottish Government.
