**People Advisor**

**Who are we looking for?**

A pivotal role within the organisation, the People Advisor is responsible for leading on all aspects of employee relations - enabling fair and equitable processes and procedures are adhered to within the people department.

If you have a passion for people and a deep understanding of policies, processes, employment law and best practice then we would love to hear from you. You will be a pragmatic collaborator with excellent delivery, integrity and the ability to challenge respectfully.This role requires excellent written & verbal communication, problem solving and high attention to detail.

**What will you be responsible for?**
- Representing the People Department at interviews/ presentations/meetings
- Using and interpreting management information to identify trends/issues.
- Advising hiring managers on the drafting of job descriptions and the job evaluation process.
- Demonstrating an in depth understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion and ensuring that this is applied throughout all activities.
- Leading on employee relations issues, ensuring that cases are well managed, handled swiftly and effectively and in line with organisational policy and legal requirements.
- Leading on project work, including researching topics, benchmarking externally and stakeholder management, to ensure appropriate outcomes in line with business needs.
- Writing developing and delivering bite-size training and coaching sessions.
- Advising managers at all levels; coaching, mentoring and supporting them.
- Collaborating with the wider people department to ensure that relevant issues/updates are communicated clearly and in a timely fashion, proposing solutions and participating in their implementation.

**Qualifications**

**Essential skills, experience and competence required**
- Significant HR experience and/or CIPD Level 5
- Significant employee relations experience (such as advising on disciplinary/grievance/ill health absence cases)
- Proven ability to work and collaborate successfully as part of a team
- Ability to identify priorities, multi-task and work with mínimal support/supervision
- Competent in the use of Excel/reporting from management systems
- Ability to treat personal information with discretion
- Accurate and appropriate note taking/record keeping
- Knowledge and experience of HR IT systems
- Significant interview experience
- Ability to lead coaching conversations effectively

**Desirable skills, experience and competence**
- Job evaluation understanding and experience
- Previous experience within a research, engineering or technical environment
