We are seeking to employ an enthusiastic motivated individual to assist us in developing children’s confidence, social skills and empower their learning whilst promoting literacy and numeracy in a fun active environment. A caring and reliable person who can join our happy, supportive staff team at St Thomas Centre Nursery School to start September 2023.

Essential qualities include:

- commitment to the safeguarding, and promoting, the welfare of children and young people
- awareness of what constitutes 'good quality Early Years Education
- experience of providing comprehensive care to children including greeting them from school and delivering them safely to parents/carers at the end of the day
- ability to consult with children and involve them in planning activities
- a real interest in the play and emotional needs of children
- willingness to undertake appropriate and relevant training e.g., annual safeguarding, food and hygiene, first aid
- commitment to working within an equal opportunities’ framework
- ability to understand and meet children's needs including those of children with additional needs
- good communication skills to liaise with all members of the team, children and parents
- ability to provide support and supervision to play workers and other staff, including volunteers
- ability to work effectively as part of a team and ability to work on own initiative, using judgement and common sense
- ability to motivate children with a sense of fun
- experience of providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met
- understanding of health and safety issues that can affect the day to day running of childcare services, especially when setting up play equipment
- experience of working as part of a team
- good physical and emotional health, and the ability to work on own initiative

Desirable qualities include:

- current Paediatric First Aid Certificate
- appropriate child protection training
- food Handling and Hygiene training
- previous experience of working in primary schools
- NVQ level 3
- ability to use IT based resources to support play and club administration
