This is a very exciting opportunity to help make a real difference to increasing access to Adult Mental Health (AMH) Clinical Psychology and Psychological Therapy services in North Wales. You will be joining a friendly, welcoming, and growing NHS secondary care AMH Clinical Psychology & Psychological Therapies Department, with excellent clinical and research links with the School of Psychology and the DClinPsych Department at the University of Wales, Bangor. The countryside of North Wales offers an excellent quality of life, and the post will be within the county team of Arfon.
The BCUHB AMH Clinical Psychology and Psychology Therapy Department are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified Clinical Psychologist, to be based and work full time in Arfon CMHT. This is a permanent position, and the post holder will work as part of integrated secondary mental health services for adults who have complex and severe mental health needs. The post holder will be expected to integrate well and co-work with their CMHT colleagues, providing specialist psychological knowledge and expertise to the team. As well as providing direct clinical input to clients, this will also involve working through others by training, supervision, and formulation work.
To carry a specialist clinical psychology workload of adults at Arfon CMHT. To provide an assessment, interventions and consultancy to services users within Arfon CMHT To provide day to day clinical supervision for attached Assistant Psychologists. To undertake Research and Development Activities, lecturing, multidisciplinary advice, consultation and training.

To provide specialised clinical assessments and evidence-based therapies, drawing on highly developed specialist theoretical and practical knowledge of a wide range of psychological procedures and evidence-based practices.
To make appropriate clinical judgements, diagnoses, formulations and decisions involving complex facts or situations, and which require the analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options, and provide the basis for the development of therapeutic interventions.
To communicate diagnoses, highly complex condition-related and highly sensitive or life changing information to clients, relatives and other professionals, where barriers to acceptance and understanding may need to be overcome, and in situations which may be hostile, antagonistic or emotive.
To work in clinical situations which require intense concentration and which involve highly distressing or emotional circumstances or where there is risk of verbal or physical aggression e.g. psychological assessments and interventions with clients experiencing progressive cognitive decline, terminal illness, bereavement issues, post traumatic stress disorder.
