Role Purpose

The AEC Scheduler/Controller is the point of contact for tasking requests into the Aviation Engineering Centre (AEC) business unit. Responsible for support to the customer (predominantly QinetiQ Project Managers) to ensure all information required for bid submission is supplied, whilst continually improving customer engagement and demand planning. The AEC Scheduler/Controller is responsible for identifying gaps in demand for the AEC, ensuring that stakeholders are held accountable for any missing demand plans for their business area. The AEC Scheduler/Controller will maintain the AEC’s Resource Allocation data in line with data systems, including the Event Usage in the Athena Tool,Project Manager engagement, Functional Manager engagement and local intelligence.

Key Responsibilites

Accurate and timely maintenance and analysis of the Delivery Planning Spreadsheet to provide a single set of ‘truth data’ to the AECs Leadership for the purposes of planning, recruitment, priority setting, milestone visibility, clash hot spots and project status information about all AEC projects in Backlog, Base and Win-High status
Chairing of the AECs weekly Delivery Planning Review with the AEC Leadership Team to further refine the data and discuss resource allocations, milestone delivery confidence and other delivery risks for escalation
Attendance at the AEC / TEC IDT Future Work Review to harvest data pertaining to the AEC future work opportunities status and use that data to inform the following weeks Delivery Performance Reviews
Accurate and timely maintenance of the Resource Allocation Spreadsheet to provide a single set of ‘truth data’ to the AECs Leadership for the purposes of planning, recruitment, priority setting, availability gaps and over burdening

Engagement with the relevant Resource Managers to validate allocation data and clashes Engagement with the relevant Project Managers to validate and correct erroneous MatchMaker data

Key Competencies

Able to work independently with mínimal supervision or external influence
IT literate and able to develop personnel skills to harvest data from various tools used by QinetiQ
Competent user of Microsoft Excel tools to include pivot tables and outputting graphical data ready for monthly Business Performance Review
Competent user of Microsoft Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) tools to include ownership and maintenance of the AECs Operations Plan and to be able to
Professional and assertive communicator, able to engage with Engineers and Managers at all levels with the AEC / IDT Engineering and Project Management teams
Effective and organised leader and motivator, able to influence positive outcome of situations instead of simply reporting the issue
Flexible and comfortable working within and maintaining compliance within a dynamic environment with shifting priorities
A recognised collaborator within Engineering teams and ability to build relationships to aid effective delivery of own role and that of others

Experience & Qualifications

High level of IT competency including the ability to learn new systems and packages as required.
Strong problem-solving skills including innovative and creative thinking.
Proven ability to communicate effectively, negotiate with and influence others to ensure successful delivery of all tasks to agreed scope and cost.
Experience of working in a regulatory Environment
Experience of working within a data analytics team (Ideally 1+ years)
Background of working with large and complex datasets

The ability to produce clear graphical representations and data visualisations.

Ability to lead meetings with Senior team members and customers.

Association of Project Management Professionals Foundation or commensurate experience
Microsoft PPM basic users qualification
