**Managing Editor (maternity cover) - Adult Editorial**
We are looking for a managing editor to join the Adult Consumer Editorial team at Bloomsbury for a maternity cover, where we publish everything from edge-of-your seat thrillers to right-to-roam political manifestos.
This is a project-management role (sometimes called a desk editor in other publishing houses). As managing editor, you will oversee a list of fiction, non-fiction and illustrated books from handover from the commissioning editor through to print. This entails organising everything a book might need before it can be released into the world, from a copy-edit to a map.
In this role, you will be working primarily across our Bloomsbury Trade and General divisions on mono fiction and non-fiction books. So if you have a passion for all books but always want to delve into a literary novel than transports you through language or a pacey political memoir, this is the role for you.
We are looking for someone with excellent project-management skills, who will prioritise building great relationships with authors, freelancers and colleagues and will take the initiative on projects. This is not an entry-level role.
This is a key non-commissioning role within editorial management, reporting to the Senior Managing Editor.
**Additional information**
The role is a full-time, 12-month maternity cover position based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP on a hybrid working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred). Allocated office days for this role are Monday and Tuesday
