**Background**

The work schedule for this post would be 36 hours per week - Monday to Friday

The post is a full-time role which forms part of the Facilities Core Support team providing general support to the College. The facilities team provides a flexible support service to the College of Medical and Dental Sciences (MDS) across multiple buildings on Campus; including parcel delivery, stores counter service, gas cylinder service, postal and autoclaving facilities. The core services team is integral to the support structures within the College which facilitate the delivery of high-quality research and teaching activities.

**Role Summary**

You will provide a mixture of operational, and administrative services, to help ensure the accommodation remains suitable for core activities (e.g. teaching, research, administrative support services, health and safety, environmental awareness and events management). In order to flexibly use resource, you may be given the opportunity to work in different areas of the department or wider University.

**Main Duties**
- Provide general Portering across the College; to include undertaking room/office moves, event set ups and furniture deliveries. Moving goods from the College’s stores to point of use.
- Assist the Practical Teaching Teams in the movement and set up of equipment to enable the delivery of the educational programmes.
- Provide general housekeeping services supplementing those provided by cleaning services as needed, e.g. topping up sanitisers, paper towels etc.
- Provide sterile waste services; collect and process clinical waste, keep records of clinical waste on a daily basis in accordance with the University’s and HSE regulations, provide clean glassware and sterile plastics. Direct interaction and liaison with service engineers is also expected.
- The safe handling, transport and replacement of gas cylinders as requested by Research and Teaching labs; monitoring of cylinder stock levels, re-ordering and reporting of cylinder related issues.
- Assist within all the College stores as part of the wider team; admitting visitors/engineers and delivery drivers to the loading bay areas, ensuring the facilities are kept in a secure and safe condition; checking off deliveries against paperwork and re-stocking shelves within the two stores facilities, serving customers and monitoring stock levels/replenishing shelves.
