**About The Service**
An exciting opportunity has become available at Cardiff Council Children’s Services, and we are recruiting a full time Waking Night Staff Officer for Ty Storrie which is a short break facility, working with children and young people with complex needs and disabilities.

We are currently recruiting for 1 full time and 1 part time post (24.5 hours).

This is an exciting time to join a service, which puts the individual at the heart of our work. This is an opportunity to work in a way that understand the needs of this important group of young people. Ty Storrie’s team will work from a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to meet the needs of children, young people and their families.

**About the job**
Working in line with our statement of purpose, you will take responsibility for the smooth and safe running of the establishment, ensuring that young people receive a sensitive service best meeting their social, racial, psychological, educational, cultural, physical identity and health care needs.

**What We Are Looking For From You**

You will be awake on duty at all times throughout the night to monitor and to respond to young people’s individual needs and the requirements/instruction of on-call Managers.

You will have proven experience of working with young people in a residential childcare setting, as well as the ability to complete the Social Care Wales Induction Framework within 6 months of appointment. Excellent communication skills are needed for this role, as well as a caring and friendly disposition to meet the needs of the young people.

You will understand the importance and your responsibility of the safeguarding and protection of children, and how to appropriately escalate concerns if they are raised.

This is a physically, actively and emotionally challenging role which requires you to be able to meet those challenges.
