**The Role**:
As a Driver / Assistant Support Worker you can make your own powerful contribution to enriching the lives of adults with learning disabilities. Joining the Community Access Westminster team, you’ll get to go home every day knowing you have made a real difference for some of the most vulnerable people in Westminster. Our work is all about enabling local residents to achieve real success in their lives. We believe that ‘every moment has potential’ and every person needs support that’s tailored to their unique needs.

You’ll collect people from their homes, take them to activity locations both within and beyond Westminster, and help your colleagues to deliver life-enhancing sessions by supporting people’s needs throughout. Many of the adults we support have Profound & Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) so you’ll often find yourself pushing a wheelchair and you’ll always keep an eye on everyone’s health and safety. You’ll also take good care of the vehicle you drive, making sure it’s clean and tidy, with all tail-lifts and clamps working perfectly.

**About You**:
Working with adults who have PMLD can be challenging because human behaviour is unpredictable. For this reason, we would prefer it if you have experience of working with people who have learning disabilities or Autism. Ideally you will also have experience of working alongside a Passenger Assistant, helping people to use service-based transportation. As this is a driving role as well as a support worker position, you will need a PCV D1 licence, valid in the UK. It’s also vital that you understand health and safety requirements around the transportation of people who use wheelchairs.
