The role will include developing the service evaluation of a therapy day programme, which is a two-year intervention that service users attend for one day a week. The day involves two therapeutic approaches (a Psychoanalytic group and Compassion Focused Therapy group) as well as break out space to interact with peers. The job will involve, with support of the team, developing both quantitative and qualitative methods to evaluate the efficacy of the programme, developing a proposal for submission to Research and Innovation and may include implementing the evaluation. The post holder will also support the evaluation of Compassionate Mind Training (CMT). This is a training that is offered to staff throughout the trust to enable the development of a more compassionate response to their own distress. A number of measures of compassion and general well-being have been utilised in the evaluation of the training which require analysis and interpretation, with the support of qualified team members. The post holder will also have the opportunity to attend the CMT training and use the CMT app to develop their own personal practice The post requires graduate level research knowledge and a good understanding of quantitative and qualitative analysis. It also requires an interest in psychological therapies and a motivation to learn more about the therapeutic process.

Under the supervision and management of a qualified and suitably experienced professional psychologist, the post holder works independently on a day-to-day basis according to a plan and objectives agreed and reviewed at intervals with the qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of relevant team/service area policies and procedures.

In order to support the development of departmental research, day to day skills will include conducting literature searches, an understanding and proficient use of quantitative and qualitative methodologies enabling accurate data analysis, writing reviews and preparing papers and reports.

The post holder supports SPS staff in governance, audit, research and clinical administrative activities, collecting, collating and analysing data, writing and presenting reports and assisting in project development under the guidance of the psychologist as required. Uses IT equipment and software as required, including statistical, database, spreadsheet and presentational.

The post holder participates in personal appraisal and continuing professional development activities as agreed with the service line manager, including general training required in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Trust.
