**How to Apply**:
**Main Accountabilites of the Role**:

- to assist the registrars of births,still-births,deaths and marriages in accordance with the various registration acts, at the registration office and other locations as directed
- to provide reception duties as and when required to respond to customers face to face, telephone, online and postal enquiries and other administrative functions. This will include providing advice, information, and copy certificates relating to copy birth,death,civil partnerships registrations as appropriate
- to assist the registrars to take notices of marriages in accordance with the various acts
- to assist the organisation of citizenships and other ceremonies, requested by the senior registrar
- to attend ceremonies as requested
- to undertake the ordering of stationary, equipment and security stock via the General Registrar office or via POPS.

**What you will need to have**:

- the ability to operate within a team environment, as well as independently
- proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people
- the ability to work well under pressure, whilst delivering a high standard of service
- tactful and show patience and empathy when dealing with people who may be distressed
- confident when dealing with people from various backgrounds and cultures.

Although this role involves registering births, deaths and notices, previous experience of this is not required as full training will be provided.
- a clear understanding that you will be accountable for your statutory responsibilities as a registration officer
- a high standard of administrative, IT, and keyboard skills
- clear and accurate handwriting
- you must also hold a full Driving Licence.

**Appropriate Dress and Personal Appearance**:
Registration staff represent Slough Borough Council while they are at work and are expected to always present a smart and professional image. This is particularly important when dealing with customers both in the register office and when attending outside venues and events. Staff are expected to be appropriately dressed for the work they are doing.

You will need to wear
- a smart suit business attire or equivalent such as smart shirt and tie, tailored jacket, and trousers
- any head covering, appropriate to an individuals’ faith
- clean and smart shoes.

You will have have a common-sense approach to jewellery, piercings and make-up etc.
