Participation and Engagement Worker

This exciting and innovative new service will provide child-centred, outcome-focused, specialist support for children and young people, from birth to and up to 25 years old with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), residing in safe accommodation because of domestic abuse. This may include refuge, Sanctuary Schemes, move-on accommodation, and dispersed accommodation.

The role of the Participation and Engagement Worker is highly creative. The postholder will proactively engage children, young people and their families who are entering safe accommodation, ensuring that their needs can be met, capturing their voices about ways in which the service could develop, overcoming barriers, evaluating the impact of support and establishing group-based practitioner and peer-led support groups.

**Qualifications Required**

The postholder will have a degree level qualification in a related area and experience of working with children and young people who have experienced trauma, including Domestic Abuse.

**Skills & Experience Required**

Experience of proactively engaging children and young people who have experienced trauma, particularly domestic abuse.

Experience of co-producing services with children and young people.

Ability to meaningfully engage parents.

Experience of working to safeguard children and young people.

A good understanding of agencies and support available for families in Kent

Strong organisational ability including ability to plan workload and manage own time effectively.

A high level of written and verbal presentation skills and ICT skills.

Knowledge of the impact of Domestic Abuse on the development, resilience and well-being of a child or young person.

A clear understanding of Safeguarding and Data Protection legislation.

An ability to remain calm whilst working under pressure and on sensitive and confidential issues.

To be creative and proactive, able to use initiative and make sound judgements.

An ability to deal with a number of tasks at once and to be flexible with work routines.

A positive outlook and a result focused approach.

To work effectively as part of a team.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
