The post-holder will serve as the Implementation Science Lead within the UK Public Health Rapid Support Team (UK-PHRST) at LSHTM.

The post-holder will develop and lead a strategy for implementation science research in relation to outbreak response in Low and Middle-Income Countries for the UK-PHRST, conducting new and innovative research projects and providing advice on intervention evaluation across the programme. The post-holder will develop studies that, for example, assess the effectiveness of specific approaches to outbreak response and the role of traditional healthcare structures in supporting outbreak preparedness and response policies, and/or seek to understand and overcome barriers to the adoption of proven approaches to outbreak response in a range of contexts.

The post-holder will manage a small team of researchers and work collaboratively with and support UK-PHRST colleagues on multi-disciplinary projects across the UK-PHRST’s triple remit. They will also support capacity development of staff in programme eligible countries to ensure effective preparedness and response for future epidemics/pandemics.

The post-holder will hold a doctoral degree in a relevant topic and have expertise in research on evaluation of public health interventions and/or implementation science in LMICs. Further particulars are included in the job description.

The post-holder should expect to travel overseas frequently on behalf of the UK-PHRST.

The post is full-time, 1.0FTE and fixed-term until 31 March 2025. The post is funded by the UK Government Overseas Development Aid and is available from 3 January 2023.
