**About the Opportunity**

As a Senior Transport Planner you will be involved in managing the delivery of a wide range of strategic transport projects, primarily on behalf of Essex County Council, but with opportunities to engage with colleagues from across the UK. In order for you to fulfil this role you must therefore have detailed knowledge and experience of local transport planning and policy, using standard modelling packages and recognised transport appraisal techniques.

**Here’s What You’ll Need**:

- Demonstrable technical understanding of one or more areas of transport planning, for example, Local Transport Plans, Local Plans, route-based strategies, business case development, modelling, data analysis, and strategy/policy development
- Ability to produce clear, precise and coherent analysis and reports
- Excellent, verbal, listening and presentation skills for a variety of audiences including presenting information to clients at formal and informal levels
- Ability to work both as part of a sophisticated multi-disciplinary team as well as possessing the ability to work independently to solve problems
- Experience of project and client management covering programme, resources, finance and quality control
- Track record of successfully mentoring and developing junior colleagues and sharing technical knowledge
- Demonstrate collaborative behaviours and engaging style of delivery
- MSc in Transport or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of using or interpreting outputs from standard strategic or micro-simulation transport modelling packages, e.g. VISUM, SATURN, CUBE, EMME, VISSIM / S-Paramics
- Experience in working with junction modelling software (e.g. Junctions8, TRANSYT, LINSIG etc)
- Chartered Engineer or Transport Planning Professional or other relevant professional accreditation (Chartered Membership)
