Job Purpose:
There will be a requirement to work across the Operational and Finance functions incorporating multiple stakeholder needs, with responsibilities including continuous improvement activity, implementing & embedding system changes, carrying out standard maintenance and data integrity controls.

**Job description**:
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Key link across finance and operational teams throughout the business:
Working closely with Operational teams to ensure any grants system developments or changes impacting finance system have been correctly administered

In depth understanding of the data interdependencies between operational and finance systems, including data automations

Working closely with Operational teams and Finance users assessing data integrity and quality of grants system reporting outputs

Support testing on grants system reporting outputs post development release, assessing the impact on financial records and reporting outputs

Finance advocate, imparting best practice on controls and system awareness throughout the organisation, sharing user guide material and “how to” sessions

Support, influence and embed developments of the system:
Implementation of continuous improvement initiatives, collaborating across the Finance Team to embed and deliver technical improvements in the Workday finance system

Wider communications and necessary training to ensure successful finance system software updates

Working closely with the Workday Product Team to ensure continuous improvement and project initiatives are delivered from the finance system aspect

Finance representative for Workday, maintaining control of system and financial controls:
Contributing to the maintenance of the chart of accounts, working closely with the Financial Control team

Creation and maintenance of reporting structures within the finance system, meeting various stakeholder needs (including consideration of project identification markers and their connected relationships)

Essential
- Finalist, Part Qualified Accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA/CIPFA) or equivalent experience (QBE)

- Clear, demonstrable relationship management and keen influencing skills, working with senior stakeholder groups

Demonstrable experience of a continuous improvement approach to financial processes & ways of working

Proven experience within a core finance function, understanding financial control, risk and reporting requirements

Demonstrable experience of working as part of a wider-business, consulting with senior stakeholders and effectively ‘partnering’ with stakeholders to meet organisational and financial objectives

Demonstrable experience of working with data structures and large data sets

Experience with MS Office products including a very strong aptitude with MS Excel

Understanding of the role of governance, risk management and assurance in project delivery

Desirable
- An understanding of how grant funding works across Government or UKRI

Interest/background/experience in innovation or research, business competitiveness and technology policy or delivery

Experience within a project management or change environment

Practical knowledge of Workday and Salesforce a plus
