**Job summary**:
The Animal Plant Health Agency (APHA) is a Government agency that sits within the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

In order to meet the need of the business, we consider the minimum time for part-time working within the CSC is 22.12 hours over 3 days.

These roles will provide significant opportunities to develop your own skills and future career. Your responsibilities will include working as Team Leader to the general administrative support within the various APHA Teams.

**Support and Training**

Due to the job requirements some of your training will be carried out in person and therefore, whilst completing the training there may be an expectation to work from the Exeter office.

**Job description**:
You will be working in a friendly and supportive team in a fast paced, reactive and varied role. You will need to have excellent IT and organisation skills and the flexibility to turn your hand to different tasks as the situation demands. The position is customer facing and will suit those who have an ability to communicate well to a diverse group of customers. You will be engaging with a broad range of partners and forming relationships with colleagues across the wider Defra team.

**Person specification**:

- You will lead and manage a team of Administrative Officers to deliver targets effectively, in line with operational instructions and legal requirements.
- You will manage a specific area of work, providing support and guidance to your team and other colleagues.
- You will be responsible for all aspects of managing your team effectively including performance management and other HR policies, work prioritisation and allocation, and updating and reporting management information. Part of APHA’s work involves the removal and slaughter of animals for welfare reasons and disease control purposes and your role will directly or indirectly support this work.
