The Data, Intelligence & Policy Team provides policy development, analysis, research, and partnerships support to the achievement of the Council’s Corporate Plan objectives. The Policy Officer: Voluntary Sector & Inclusion is part of a small team leading the Council’s relationship with the voluntary and community sector (VCS) and supporting the Council’s ambition to reduce inequalities across the borough so that the successes of living in Reading can be shared by everyone.

**About the role**

You’ll work with council officers, partners and stakeholders across the borough to shape the Council’s tackling inequality agenda and deliver a programme of work to facilitate increased capacity and resilience within the VCS and address the underlying causes of exclusion.

You’ll contribute to the specification and commissioning of services from the VCS and support the Council’s grants programme; including the performance and financial management to ensure the Council achieves value for money.

You’ll be part of a team that relies on each individual to play their part to the best of their ability. **About you**

The following experience is required for this role:

- Educated to degree level in relevant discipline, or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of local government services and activities
- Understanding of and experience of working in or with the voluntary and community sector
- Delivering positive outcomes and improvements through partnership working
- Experience of delivering coproduced outcomes which have added greater value to communities
- Proactive and effective stakeholder management, engagement, and consultation
- Effective communications with stakeholders and communities
- Performance monitoring and management
- Use of information and data to inform service planning and improvement
