**The Highways Maintenance Apprentice Role**

You will work in a supported learning environment to develop all the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to become a successful** Highways Maintenance Apprentice **and complete a Level 2 Apprenticeship. You will learn about the maintenance and repair of highways, roads, pavements and street furniture as well as learning about the associated traffic management.

**Other responsibilities include**:

- Undertaking planned works and scheme works as part of a gang carrying out operations such as paving and kerb laying
- Undertaking formal training in order to be confident carrying out tasks such as kerb laying, paving, sett laying and duct laying
- Working as instructed by the mason on site to complete daily/weekly targets
- Assisting in the collection when requested of materials required for works
- Carrying out all works with care and with attention to health and safety, using the appropriate tools and safeguards
- Learning to undertake any necessary pedestrian management as instructed

**What we’re looking for in our Highways Maintenance Apprentice**

To be considered for this role you must have GCSE’s or equivalent in Maths and English. You will be reliable, hardworking with an interest in the construction industry. You will have strong communication skills and the enthusiasm to learn and develop.
