Do you have an interest in mental health care in a physical health care setting?

There is a great variety to the role which involves working with all specialities involved within the Trust.
You will be working at the interface between physical and mental health and will bring your knowledge and expertise to support the clinical teams in the Emergency Department and in-patient services across Sheffield Teaching Hospital sites.
The Mental Health Team works alongside Psychiatric Liaison to improve the safety and quality of care given to people with co-existing mental and physical health problems.
To provide mental health support to patients in the Emergency Department and across other areas of Sheffield Teaching Hospital’s ensuring their safety within clinical areas and/or during escort duties.
To be responsible for the initial provision and/or the maintenance of high standards of care for patients in Sheffield Teaching Hospital’s.

To follow the patients’ Mental Health Risk Management Plan as devised by Psychiatric Liaison staff, Lead Nurse - Mental Health or a Duty Psychiatrist.
Where appropriate, to formulate care plans in relation to the patient’s mental health needs in conjunction with other mental health professionals and the patient but to adhere to plans put in place by the assessing Mental Health Team including Psychiatric Liaison services.
To fulfil the relatively autonomous role of Mental Health Practitioner in a non-Mental Health setting, working to established policies and procedures but willing and able to use professional decision-making skills and discretion as required.

Please also note this vacancy is banded dependent upon applicants experience relevant to this post. The banding of the successful applicant/s will start at Band 5 unless applicants meet the necessary threshold of skills and experience required to start on Band 6.
Our patients and staff are not numbers they are individuals. Proud to make a Difference is not just our slogan but the way we do things. If you are looking for a role or career that excites you, stretches your potential and gives you job satisfaction, we would love to hear from you.
You will be part of an ambitious and friendly team within one of the UK’s leading NHS Trusts which also has an impressive track record of leading clinical research and innovation.
As well as a great job, our location provides the perfect mix of vibrant city life but with the beautiful Peak District countryside also on the doorstep. Known as the outdoor city, it is a lovely place to make your home.
You will be working for an organisation which values and respects all of its staff and the community it serves.
